Appearance

A very short and frail woman, Quill dresses herself in an entirely soft blue color scheme. Her hair and eyes are snow-white; her three sets of wings and pointed tail match but with a gradient fade to a foggy blue. She wears a long-sleeved ice blue shirt with a high neckline and tapers off into a corset shape, with little side-flaps that end in ruffles and a sky blue ribbon tied beneath her bust. Her shorts are a matching ice blue with the same ruffles at the hem. The socks she wears are yet again the same ice blue that rides up to her mid-thigh, with heeled boots to match. There are brown leather belts trapped to her right thigh and left ankle, carrying vials or materials to create perfumes. She wears a cerulean-colored hat with gold accents. Mint leaves sit at the base of the hat with some white holly twigs. A cerulean-colored fur-lined shawl rests over her shoulders and brown leather gloves that end at elbow-length beneath her sleeves. The gold chains around her neck hold a diffuser for her perfumes.

Quill is often seen with her head wings covering her eyes completely. Her second mouth is unstitched and rests at the base of her right wrist. Wherever she goes, she carries her wooden staff around that holds some perfumes and a lantern with a diffuser in the center. Others may often see a deep blue mist that pours steadily from this diffuser.

Personality

This particular Cupid is young, naïve, and mischievous at heart. She absolutely adores talking to other people and is naturally very charismatic, often being able to chat her way into receiving something. Her manner of speaking borders both playful and formal, ultimately resulting in her being very well-spoken. Quill loves games and tricks both of the eye and mind, and will often tease others with her words and her perfumes. Ultimately, her behavior is quite childlike and will get attached to people quickly. She is completely blind and relies on aether and the negative space formed by her perfumes to see around her. However, some things are still a little hard to pick up, so she will not hesitate to ask others what is around them.

Biography

Quill's origins are unknown, even to herself. A spellcasting accident left her orphaned, comatose, and amnesiac. All she remembers is one day waking up in one of the Contingency Division medical wards as an emergency case, in the Hearth of Eversun City. After rehabilitation, Quill was left with nothing—or so she thought. Since her quarantine, a woman named Quill had been watching her from afar and decided to recruit her into an anti-magic organization: Mirage. Here, the young Cupid found herself within the arms of a bonded family seeking the truth about magic and aether, and researching on how to eradicate its sources so every Castrellan can live in equality. Quill forged a pact with herself upon joining to sacrifice her vision in exchange for heightened senses and a keen grip on magic; this ventured into her gaining the ability to create a mist she calls a "veil" from her diffuser lantern hanging from her staff. She uses this veil and the negative space it creates to "see" her surroundings, but it still is a little faulty. This doubles as a hope to "see" to the end of Mirage's goal, annihilating magic, all the way till the end.

Quill considered this band of brigands to be her family. They took exceptionally good care of her, and practically treated her like a curious daughter and taught her many aspects about Castrella. She held fast onto their beliefs and the words they taught her, and stayed with them for nearly twenty years.

There came a time where Mirage managed to grab a sliver of the bubble technology used by the Outerworld Division and Arcane Sciences Division to seal off chaotic aether patches. The crew tested this science in their home headquarters, but the result was fatal: a miscalculation and misuse of the blueprints caused their attempted bubble to explode, killing off the members involved. Quill, the leader, saved the young Cupid in their care—she remained the only survivor.

In honor of the previous Quill's sacrifice, this Cupid took up the name of Quill as a mantle. This Quill wanders Solaurum and neighboring territories day and night to create a new Mirage with the same ideals as her leader. Unfortunately, her wandering lasted so incredibly long without success, she began to doubt her cause. Eventually the ideal and failure to uphold it whittled away her psyche and morality, becoming an empty vessel of her former self. Quill carries a slightly warped outlook of the ideas that old Mirage spoke of, but has now convinced herself that the goal of destroying all magic no matter what is what's best for Castrella.

The new Mirage she created consists of seven members and has been active for ten years.

Abilities

Cerulean Veil

  • The mist that pours from the diffuser lantern hanging from her staff. It is a desensitizing mist that muffles the senses of those who are heavily engrossed in it. The individual will be unlikely to feel pain, hear more than just what's adjacent to them, taste any foods, smell more than the minty scent the veil produces, or see anything further than a few inches. Quill is not affected by this, and uses it to perceive objects around her by utilizing negative space. She can also use this veil to conceal objects within it from the public eye. This veil also produces from her second mouth on her wrist. This is her only aromatherapy technique that is innate to her; all others must be forged with perfumes by hand and magic combined.

Aromatherapy

  • By combining her strong aether and perfumes, she can activate and provide a wide array of effects to both harm and benefit others. Note that her perfumes do not affect herself. The perfumes can take some time to concoct, so she often has to stock up prior to an incident that may require them. She owns perfumes that include but are not limited to the following effects:
    • Boosting or lowering defenses
    • Heightening or muddling senses
    • Healing or poison over time
    • Taking very brief control over an individual
    • Invisible trails left behind on someone
    • Changing the natural scent of someone or something
    • Disguising someone or something
    • Forcing a brief state of intoxication
    • Many more!

Valuables

Diffuser Charms

  • These diffuser charms are identical to the ones in her lantern and around her neck. By enhancing these charms with her perfumes and magic, they can carry the effects of her perfumes for much, much longer. It takes a lot of aether, however, and she only owns so many. She may be able to use these to track locations of individuals who carry these charms, or provide enhanced effects of her aromatherapy from afar.

Mirage Staff

  • Quill's primary focus. Not only does it carry perfumes by being able to tie bottles to the shaft, it also assists her in channeling her aether into her aromatherapy abilities. The lantern hanging from the coiled head of her staff carries a very sturdy and aetherically charged diffuser used to create her veil. She can also diffuse perfumes of other kinds in this, but then her veil would cease to work for that duration. It is particularly helpful for instances where she needs to diffuse an entire larger space.

Trivia

  • Her real name is something only original Mirage members and old coworkers may know.
  • She's the one who hosts board game nights at the Mirage HQ, because she thinks it's fun. Even if others think it isn't. They're mandatory attendance.
