Manako Mitsu, known by many as simply Mana, is a very shy water Tempered that adores everything that has to do with flora. She works in the Contingency Division as a private apothecary, acting as a personal physician for many Guild employees who love locking themselves in their offices.

Appearance

Mana is a petite woman of extremely short height compared to the average Tempered. Her hair is a deep dusk blue with lighter highlights at the tips of her bangs and side locks and runs down to midway through her shoulder blades. It's often fashioned into a bun with a white ribbon to secure it, but she does wear her hair down sometimes. There's a slight heterochromia to her eyes, as her left eye is a bit paler in color than her left. Lighter blue scales cover her fair skinned body, including her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Fin-like horns protrude from the sides of her head where her ears might be, along with another set of curved horns pointed at the tips upwards. A long lizard-like tail trails behind her, the same color as her scales, and moves almost like a snake's. Her choice of wardrobe includes anything floral patterned with a cinched waist and a long, flowing skirt. Matching leather gloves and boots laced up protect her from the natural environment.

The Contingency Division armband required by the Guild is clipped to her waist ribbon with the band folded neatly behind the badge itself. Gold, round-framed glasses with a flower accent sits on her nose, but it is unknown whether she actually needs them or not. If one catches her without her glasses she appears to see just fine. There's also a natural reddish hue to her cheeks beneath a generous speckling of freckles. While her frame is very thin, she is quite capable of lifting heavier objects.

Personality

Mana's presence is small, unconfident and quite anxious most of the time when contending with strangers. Her voice is quiet and speech patterns semiformal, but she isn’t entirely incompetent in a conversation. When she grows comfortable with another person, her voice is eloquent and chipper, showing how truly happy she is to have a companion. In the case of her work, she will straighten her posture and dictate a medical prognosis with sternness and…a mildly threatening aura, even if her voice is soft. She’s another one of those “I’ll yap for hours about the thing I like,” which would be floriculture. Mana is kind and caring, always willing to help people, and finds listening to life experiences of others fascinating. She will likely be a presence that requires adoption by an extrovert in order for her to fully blossom into a socially adept personality.

Biography

A young woman who is awfully shy and soft spoken. She was raised with an inquisitive mind and semiformal habits, despite her parents favoring the rowdy language of sailors while afloat on the seas in their fishing boat. For her entire younger life, Mana was homeschooled by her parents. They taught her very well, surprisingly well, for not particularly involving themselves in formal education. The only glaring issue with this was Mana's lack of socialization. She didn't quite receive the exposure required for young children to grow socially apt, thus cultivating her incredibly shy disposition towards others. She'd much rather hide her nose in books ranging in categories from floral field journals to the most overly dramatic fantasy romance novel. That special interest of reading also kept her mind occupied and highly attentive to her homeschooling, nearly getting perfect grades (as established by her parents) when she applied herself.

At around age 10 or so, Mana's parents also dragged her along on their fishing boat to teach her all about the waters and the life teeming below its surface. While it was fun and interesting for her, she wasn't highly interested in the fish themselves. In fact, she took a liking to learning about the plant life beneath and how they survive underwater in comparison to the surface flora. This spiraled into a more pronounced interest for botany, and so during the lulls on the days-long fishing trips, her eyes would be glued to books about botany and floriculture. She did grow up to be a fantastic fisher, though!

At age 18, Mana began expressing a desire to become a healer. She had a good handle on her aether already, being a water Tempered raised with ties to the ocean, and often assisted others with seasickness and minor scrapes and cuts with her magic. While her training wasn't super in depth, she pleaded to her parents to allow her a chance at higher education at the Adventurers’ Guild. They accepted, all traveled to Eversun City together, and Mana became engrossed in her studies relating to magic and botany. At some point, she did become overwhelmed with her interests. Wanting to study magic, botany, and healing—she thought she could handle it in a similar vein to her homeschooling. Incorrect. She struggled quite a bit, almost flunking out not because the subjects were difficult to understand, but solely because she overloaded her management skills. Once she got a grasp on how to handle a proper graduate setting, she passed with flying colors in the Contingency Division after three years.

Her career began as a private physician, incorporating apothecary practices into her routines. She'd visit older folk in their homes and check up on them; eventually, this moved to also visiting employees of the Hearth often stuck in their offices. This opened up her doors to to know Hanzekihel Oulieus and Ulvultar & Senti Ballahast, as her medical visits to them are plentiful. After a few years, the current head of the Oulieus family and tea tycoon, Vriella Oulieus, heard about her talents from her grandson and summoned Mana to personally hire her services to assist with the Ballahasts’ health problems. After the first year passed, Vriella offered her a dedicated room to stay in, grow her plants, and practice her hobbies. Nowadays, she travels between Heartsford Cliff and Eversun City quite often, visiting her clients in need at both locations.

Abilities

  • Panacea - Generate a soothing water from the palms that can lift up sediment from and cleanse open wounds.
  • Rivulet - Create a subtly sticky, watery substance to mend wounds. There are ways for Mana to water this down much more and use the healing properties of this substance to water her gardens and graft plants when needed.
  • Amongst other miscellaneous things she can do with water. This will be expanded upon later!
