Penelope Carthwright, often referred to as Nelly by friends and coworkers, is an equine kindred noblewoman currently serving as secretary to the director of the Outerworld Division. She hails from the prestigious Carthwright noble lineage, who are responsible for the founding and management of the OWD.
Personality
Nelly is a kind hearted, incredibly clumsy woman with nervous habits & a forgetful nature. Due to her awful memory, she’s learned to keep heavily detailed, color-coded notes. She finds comfort in doing this– she finds the process and colors soothing... even if she has trouble remembering what all her colors even mean.
She is often tripping over her own feet or dropping her pens and papers. Despite this, she is one of the OWD’s most dedicated and tireless workers. Even the Director has admitted that much of what the OWD does simply would not be possible without her.
Biography
Penelope Carthwright is the youngest daughter of the prestigious Carthwright family, a group of nobles responsible for the founding & oversight of the Adventurers’ Guild’s Outerworld Division. Her father was the division’s previous Director– he was responsible for taking over the set-up, patrolling, and maintenance of many of the current Chaotic Element Containment Zones (colloquially known as bubbles) after his father’s retirement. Nelly was made to understand that the role of Director was to one day pass on to her, and her training and education would ensure she was ready for the challenges that came with helming the OWD.
However, her father’s untimely passing left her poised to take over the role when she was far too young; her older siblings were too preoccupied with their own roles in the palace, and her mother was too ill to take over. Thus, with no one else available to take over, the role passed instead to Nelly’s estranged eldest cousin– a man who had previously left the safety of Eversun to wander the lands of Castrella freely. The Royal Family immediately sent for him, and he begrudgingly returned to the capital and assumed the role.
Still, Nelly was determined to take up her father’s mantle, and that meant staying close to the role by whatever means necessary. Thus, she shot for the next best thing & asked to become the Director’s secretary when she came of age.
In an effort to prepare for her work, Nelly decided to personally enroll in the Education Division Academy & focused her studies as if she were joining the OWD herself. Because of this, she has an intimate knowledge of everything that makes the OWD tick, and a surprising combat prowess when she isn’t cowering in the corner in fear. After graduating with only the highest of marks, Nelly returned to the palace & took the position she had requested. She has worked tirelessly ever since to help the Outerworld Division be the best it can be.

Trivia
- Nelly is fast – her top speed is comparable to that of some avistus! Unfortunately, her clumsiness tends to mean she trips over herself constantly when running that fast. She is no racehorse.
- One time she went to see a bubble site as part of an assessment and got so scared she returned home by foot in a panic without any of her reports.
- She has a host of colored pens, highlighters, and markers with which she takes notes.
- Without her agenda, she is unable to recall what day of the week it is. She barely knows what time of day it is.
- She has highly sensitive ears, which leaves her prone to migraines if she stays in a loud setting for too long.
