"Mia" is a 125 year old cambion with a strong taste for making pacts. Her favorite flavor being small, easily completed tasks, she makes many of them each day.

When she was young, she formed a pact with herself, trading her ability to sleep for the power to form pacts with others.

Mia can be found working at all times of the day. She holds multiple jobs at once to increase her exposure to the flow of people. It's very easy to accidentally come across her in your day to day, and it's very possible she's worked at any particular establishment in Eversun City.

Appearance

Mia is a typical cambion, visually. Very humanoid and averagely sized. She has short, backwards pointed horns and a long arrow-tipped tail. Her skin is a sandy, pale orange. She has bright green irises and black sclera. Her hair is a fiery orange-red.

Personality

Mia is very outwardly cheerful, happy, bubbly, and personable. She enjoys talking to people, making them feel seen and heard. She does her best to remember people's names, nicknames, pronouns, wants, needs, and motivations. She prides herself on her memory, but will note things down in her personal notebook if she worries she'll forget.

Her primary motivation is to create pacts with people, preferring smaller more frequent deals over larger fewer ones. At all times, she keeps pens and paper on her person.

"Quantity over quality!"

She is very self serving, most of her actions made to lead people into making deals with her. Most often, the deal only requires a small percentage of the patron's aether.

Mia doesn't care for riches or material things. All of the money she makes goes towards paying for her apartment in Eversun City. If she didn't need a place to store her clothes and essentials, she would simply trade her money away in a pact.

Biography

Mia has moved around the world a lot in order to gain as much exposure to people as possible. Any time she changes location, she makes sure to go somewhere far enough away from the last place to minimize the chance she is recognized. She will also change her name. She doesn't want to become a rumor or myth, and likes to keep her reputation local.

Aliases

"Mia" is the name she goes by in Eversun City. In the past, she has gone by many other names. She likes to pick names of women she found pretty in the last place she lived. Additionally, she doesn't like names with too many syllables and will sometimes cut some off.

Mia has been her longest surviving name, having stayed in Eversun City for about 25 years.

Pacts

Mia prefers making many small pacts and dislikes making big, important ones (although, she can do so).

Mia has her own ritual for her deals. When she forms a pact with someone, she scribbles a loose contract on a piece of paper, shows it to the patron, and burns it to ash in front of them upon mutual agreement. The pact is then sealed and a small, poorly drawn happy face appears on the back of the patron's hand, near their thumb.

The smiley face disappears upon completion of the pact. The longer the pact takes to complete, the sadder the face starts to look. If it takes too long, it starts to become angry, and will feel like it's burning.

Mia absolutely dislikes this and will do whatever she can to prevent it from happening. She wants her customers happy, not in pain.

She makes deals that only require aether from her patrons for a few reasons, then:

• It's easy for the patron to supply,
• The pact now only really relies on Mia's half completing,
• Aether sustains her, and keeps her feeling awake, fresh, healthy, and energetic.

While cambions do feel a compulsion to make pacts, she has been called a junkie by other members of her race.

Example Pacts

Mia has made countless deals, but they are most often simple, quick, and easy. She will do more complex things if the client agrees to pay a higher fee. Mia will make pacts for things other than aether, but prefers not to unless it's a really good deal for her.

• Physical labor: Mia will perform a task that you need done physically. Moving items, cleaning, cooking, pickup/delivery, etc.
• Intellectual labor: Mia has ghost written, finished essays, homework, eulogies, speeches, and paperwork for some people.
• Companionship: Mia will spend time with a patron if that's what they wish.
• Emotional labor: Mia, on more than a few occasions, has broken the news to people about deaths, breakups, or other bad news in general.

Abilities

Mia doesn't much care for using her aether to perform spells. But she does like adding a bit of flair or flashiness if she thinks it'll help her make a deal.

Mia is a practiced "magician," in that she is good at sleight of hand, misdirection, and wonder.

The extent of her spell casting is reserved for spectacle or resourcefulness.

• Mia keeps wooden skewers on her for when she runs out of writing tools. She will make eye contact with her patron and touch the tip of one to her skewers to her tongue to burn the wood into charcoal.

• When a contract is agreed upon, Mia will "burn" the paper to ash in front of the patron. She sleight of hands the real contract and burns up a blank piece of paper she was palming. It's all part of the show.

• In drastic times, she will write contracts with her fingernail, making slow deliberate carvings into a surface, leaving a trail of embers in the engraving.

• Mia is ambidextrous through practice. She feels the need to be able to write a contract regardless of which hand is free.
• The bottoms of her hands are always smudged with ink, since she's always writing small contracts.
