Odin Finch is a Corvid Featherfolk native to Eversun City currently working in the Outerworld Division as a squadron captain. She utilizes this high income to host the Valhalla Project, an under-the-table reconstruction project in the northwestern slums of Eversun with her adoptive brother.
Appearance
Odin, in Featherfolk standards, is an average-height woman with fair skin and freckles all over her body. She has lime green eyes that seem distant and deep, barely ever reflecting light properly. After the incident which caused her Law corruption, she lost vision in her right eye, changing its color to an iridescent white. Her skin from her right eye to her right elbow is blackened with feather plumes growing from the surface, and she uses aether-enhanced bandages to stunt the corruption growth and cover what she deems as “ugly.” Odin’s natural hair color is a deep midnight blue, but she frequently dyes her hair a pink-red color. When she doesn’t bleach her hair to apply the dye, her natural hair color comes through past the dye.
Odin’s typical outfit she wears is a dark grey collared dress shirt tied at the collar with a blue ribbon. A dark ice-blue overcoat covers most of it, buttoned up specifically to hide her body shape. It has white fur lining, gold accents, and darker blue belts on the sleeve cuffs and waist. A brown leather weapon sling crosses her body from her right shoulder and holds her trusty greatsword, affectionately named “Guillotine.” She wears dark grey leggings underneath the coat and brown calf-length boots with a fur lining. She is also always seen wearing a ribbon in her hair that matches the color of her outfit.
Prominent Featherfolk features of hers include dark purple-black wings and a bird’s tail. While Odin doesn’t typically stretch her wings outside of exercise, her wingspan rests at 230cm (~8’7”).
Personality
Odin is a fairly carefree woman, often riding the current atmosphere and answering accordingly. She adapts well to shifting conditions both in mood and combat, and does attempt to act friendly towards most people. She doesn't initiate conversation particularly herself, but will chime in when asked to or if she thinks her ideas are important to contribute. Many individuals who simply pass by her will comment on how difficult it is to pinpoint what type of person she truly is, and of course, rumors spread like wildfire within the Hearth walls. Odin claims she does not have her own personality.
To her squadron, Odin is determined, loyal, and commandeering. She is not afraid to intervene when a rookie or seasoned veteran is failing, and disciplines her squadron in various ways that are not demeaning. Other squadrons audibly recount their wishes to have Odin as their captain, to which she compliments the other squadrons' captains and assures their regimens are just as important. Staffing outside of the division, however, fear Odin and have only heard of how fearsome she is on the battlefield.
Biography
Odin is an orphaned Featherfolk who was born & raised in the northwestern sector of Eversun City, notorious for hosting the poorer and impoverished residents of the City. She was raised by a Human woman by the name of Micaiah Finch, who opted to take Odin into her home when the young Featherfolk lost her parents. Odin has been with her adoptive aunt Micaiah since she was five years old, and because of her, was able to attend public school to receive a proper education.
The Civil Affairs Division of Eversun City is supposed to be the pillar of protection and safety for the capital. Unfortunately, the guards particularly assigned to Odin's sector were cruel and punishing. They would ignore their given instructions and actively make the residents' lives worse, when they already barely generated enough income to keep a roof over their heads. Micaiah was slightly better off than most of the residents in this sector, but she devoted a lot of time, effort, and money to running a bookstore outside the slums. While her business was fairly successful, she still spent a lot of her income on donating to the local charities to keep the residents in her sector fed and educated.
During this time, Odin kept close by to a Lesser wolf Kindred by the name of Korin. While Korin was unable to attend public school, as he also was an orphan under care of another resident, Odin spent some of her free time teaching him the subjects she'd learn in her school classes. In exchange, Korin would teach Odin how to navigate the streets better, steal from the rich who don't need their pocketbooks, and show all the routes to take to avoid guards. Eventually, Odin turned into a little thief alongside her brother-figure, taking trinkets to sell on the market or outright wallets from people's pockets.
There came a night in 1209, a few months after her birthday, where a fire broke out in Odin's home sector, when she was about eight years old. Due to the laziness of the Civil Affairs guards stationed to keep an eye on this sector, the fire quickly grew out of hand. There were no spellweavers versed in water aether close by to assist with the fire, and eventually, over 80% of the already-deteriorating houses in the sector burned to the ground. Many more children were left without parents, and worse for Odin, she had lost Micaiah in the blaze. Her final moments with Micaiah were spent kicking and screaming, being pulled away by Korin to safety by Micaiah's last request. With Odin's and Korin's home now burned to ashes after that night, the two were left to wander the streets of Eversun City with only a single goal in mind: survive.
Odin spent her teen years wandering Eversun City with her older brother, stealing food and money from passersby with little trouble. This was until the two met Lady Radialy on a chance meeting when Odin was in adolesence; sensing a curse forming within the abandoned rubble of the old district, Lady Radialy came to investigate and found the two siblings highly defensive of her visit. Instead of ignoring their plight, she offered to take them in and mentor them until they were ready to go off on their own, as their mutual distaste for the Guild became apparent in their small encounter. Without much room to turn, they accepted her salvation. Odin stayed with Lady Radialy until she turned eighteen, and despite the influence of her older brother and new guardian, Odin went and applied for the Adventurers' Guild. As much as Odin despised the idea of working for the governing entity who turned her life around for the worst, she vowed to upturn the poisoned side of the Guild and leak their secrets that the public deserves to know. She had originally intended to join the Civil Affairs Division in hopes of changing everything from the inside, but as she learned about the Adventurers' Guild within its curriculum, she realized how small she was in the grandeur of the Guild. Instead, she finalizes her education through the Guild and joins the Wayfarers' Division.
The idea for becoming a wayfarer stemmed from the enticing promise of hard work being rewarded with high rewards. This quickly caused her to overwork herself early into her career at the Guild. The monetary rewards were not nearly as high as she expected, and without properly budgeting for this, she quickly spent all of her money on caring for the orphaned children in her sector and alcohol. In one of her drunken bouts of depression at the Ginkgo Tree, she meets a woman by the name of Raelynn Aquamor--another wayfarer unsatisfied with her progress within the division. Somehow, and Odin is quite unsure how it happened still to this day, the two agreed to partner up and begin accepting quests together. While Rae scored the opportunity for assistance in searching for ancient weapons to add to her collection, Odin pocketed most of the money from their journeys. The two had a fairly amicable relationship as wayfarers, even gaining reputation as a formidable duo. Eventually higher-ups from the Hearth management approached them to offer promotions to different divisions, and including Guild-hosted lodgings in the package. They both accepted, calling off their wayfaring partnership of three years.
Odin's new position in the Outerworld Division proved the perfect fit for her adamant personality. She performed outstandingly on her first excursions, becoming a stable pillar of her Law bubble squadron even as a rookie. Eventually, her performance saw her fit to become the next Captain of her squadron at the untimely demise of her prior one. Without much room to decline, she equipped the provided mantle and became an inspiration for all excursion squadron members across the Outerworld Division.
Contributions
While Odin avoids contributing anything major to the Guild, it is difficult to argue that she isn’t one of the most renowned Outerworld captains. She isn’t the longest-running captain the Guild has ever had, but for her young age, her efforts are acknowledged very highly.
Her primary focus is extorting the Guild’s high pay to fund the Valhalla Project. It aims to rebuild a burned-down sector of Eversun City from the ground up without alerting the Civil Affairs officers or the Guild itself. While she has a few contributors from behind the Guild walls, the project is particularly secretive.
Abilities
Odin has managed to control the Law corruption in her favor combat-wise, but she rarely uses it. She is able to physically manifest her natural and corrupted aether combined into an aetheric familiar in the appearance of a raven. This raven can dissipate and reappear in another location within close proximity and act as a second pair of eyes, transmitting the information and images to her blind eye. The raven can last up to five minutes, but the more information Odin receives from the raven, the more physical fatigue arrives with it. The overload of information and witnessing two different "present-times" can be incredibly overstimulating, but helpful where needed.
The amount of sheer physical strength Odin displays assisted her in rising to the ranks of a squadron captain. Her weapon, lovingly named Guillotine, weighs around 20lbs/9kg of solid steel and is aetherically enhanced to react better to sudden change of momentum.
Valuables
Engraved Pocket Watch
- A gold-plated pocket watch that still functions. There is an engraving on its cover of a feather, which was then incorporated into the Morning Roost's business logo. It used to belong to Micaiah and was gifted to Odin on her 8th birthday as an introduction into responsibility. Odin carries it everywhere, and its chain is typically attached to the inside of her coat. If she's not wearing her coat, it's tucked away in a pocket or bag.
- "My most precious treasure. I know our time was short together, but I am grateful every day for her care."
Feather Earrings
- A gift from Korin for her 16th birthday. She has other pairs of earrings, but the dangly silver feather-shaped earrings are her go-to for any outfit. She's taken great care of them, even going as far as to pay for aetheric enchantment so the silver does not deteriorate.
- "I remember the days I kept eyeing these earrings in this specific shop we passed by frequently. I never verbally said I wanted them, but I guess he noticed my interest. It was a nice surprise."
Childhood Photo
- A very blurry printed photo of Odin and Korin amidst an argument. The photo is dated on their "shared" birthday, Nova 31, 1209, right in between their own birthdates. It is tucked away deep into her wallet, where it cannot fall out or be questioned by others. This is one of two photos Micaiah took of the kids after she realized they weren't going anywhere.
- "Auntie was gifted a camera that year, so she tested it on us. She got really angry that we weren't cooperating, but I'm still really fond of this photo. I don't know what I'd do without it."
Guillotine
- Odin's greatsword. She commissioned its creation based off of schematics designed in tandem with Raelynn. Despite its weight, it is aetherically enchanted to assist with swifter movements and higher control under constant momentum. It weighs 10lbs/4.5kg of solid steel with a gold-plated guard and hilt, emerald gemstone in the center of its wing-shaped guard, and the blade is wrapped sparsely in some of her bandages. She requires a weapon sling across her body to carry it around.
- "My pride and joy! People make fun of me for naming it, but honestly, they're just jealous. It's beautifully crafted and I get compliments from smithies all the time."
Bandage Spool
- A special roll of gypsum gauze bandages that she uses to wrap her right eye, shoulder, and neck area. These are dressed with special salves, received as a prescription from the Contingency Division. In addition to the supplements she's required to consume, the salve in the gauze assists in slowing the spread of her Law corruption and its physical side effects and symptoms.
- "Every morning I have to reapply a fresh layer of these bandages. I hate looking at myself in the mirror when I do. I hope no one ever gets to see what I look like underneath them."
Miscellaneous Trinkets
These include her other items any other person would have: cigarettes, lighter, house keys, wallet, spare coins, service receipts, or small objects the orphans at the Valhalla Project grounds gifted her for no reason.

Trivia
- Voice Claim: Blemishine/Maria, Arknights (Ola Forman) [Listen here!]
- High alcohol tolerance - can likely drink three bottles of tequila alone and not feel much, if anything.
- Despite being a high-ranking officer in the division that pays the best, she is still very poor, as she budgets as much money to her makeshift orphan community.
- Odin is blind in her right eye, and has never shown anyone what lies beneath the bandages.
- What actually lies underneath is blackened, scarred skin due to her Law corruption, which started at about age 22. It's spreading quite quick. Her right eye has lost all pigment.
- She loves wearing cutesy outfits for casual wear.
- She has an excellent diet and a high-force exercise routine.
- Her hobbies include exercise, gardening, and reading fantasy-romance novels.
- Feathers shed from her wings and tail more often due to Law corruption, and are now turning white.
- Due to lack of Featherfolk family when growing up, Odin never actually learned how to fly, and still struggles with keeping herself off the ground.
- No one will ever see hear wear clothing that reveals her arms. Long-sleeves only.
