Freyja Lest is a half-Elvaari, half-Kindred botanical doctor working full-time in the Adventurers’ Guild as part of the Contingency Division staff.

Appearance

Freyja is a tall woman with a slender build. As a snow leopard Kindred, she sports white, fluffy ears tipped with black fur and a long white tail, also tipped with black fur and evenly patterned stripes. Shorter Elvaari ears also sit behind her side locks of hair and have dangling silver earrings with a blue gem in the center. She has a tendency to wrap her tail around one of her legs. She has amber eyes and white freckles that dot her cheeks, shoulders, and knees. A pinkish-red eyeshadow colors her eyelids.

The typical outfit Freyja chooses to wear to her office work consists of a dark green turtleneck knit sweater, a black wrapped skirt with black shorts underneath, and a beige-brown knit cardigan with one sleeve typically off the shoulder. Her necklace is crafted with rope and pearlescent beads, and its pendant makes home to an endangered species of flora called the Dragonfly Flower encased in a clear resin. Her waist is secured with a leather belt with various silver buckles to attach pockets and satchels to, and the leather corset belt around her hips functions in a similar way. She wears black thigh-high stockings and brown leather knee-high boots, and fingerless leather gloves. She wears the Contingency Division armband on her right upper arm.

Freyja chooses to fashion her hair in a manner of ways, but her go-to style separates her brown hair into pigtails with daisy flower hair lips. Her bangs completely cover her forehead and end at eyebrow height. The rest of her long, thick hair falls below her shoulder blades, lightens in color, and secured at the base with a fake rose and rosemary hair clip with hanging pearlescent beads.

Personality

A highly intelligent biological botanist, Freyja and her work present themselves as wildly eccentric to her peers. She appears sweet and kind when conversing with her in surface-level formalities, namely when speaking with other respectable, higher-level doctors. When immersed in her work, she often shoos away any distractions, or may outright ignore an individual within her proximity. It is not intentional, as she truly loves her work. She is passionate and excitable when in the presence of anything botanical. However, when given the opportunity to study, process, or discuss poisonous herbs, there is unfortunately no escape from her obsessive tendencies. She will skip meals and sleep in order to immerse herself completely in dedicating herself to picking apart every piece of said herbs until she has dissected its sample, experimented with how strong its phytotoxins are, and concocted a useful mix to harness its potential fully. While scary, Freyja’s intelligence and keen eye are not to be trifled with.

Biography

Born to an Elvaari father and Kindred mother, Freyja hails from a small lakeside village from the region of [pending] named [also pending]. She had quite a happy and simple life in this small village, growing up with her older sibling and learning to value the simplicities of such an upbringing. She mostly immersed herself in farmhand work, reading encyclopedias, and exploring the areas close to the lake her village rested beside. All in all, she loved her life and her family.

One day, in her late teens, a mysterious traveler cloaked in black and white passed through her humble village, and no one thought much of it. Many Wayfarers from the Guild would pass by to use the inn and tavern for a night and continue on their way the next day. However, even if this traveler was fleeting, Freyja is convinced he was the one who ruined her life. Shortly after this traveler's visit, a virus spread throughout the village, petrifying the vitals of all who come into contact with the pathogen. The symptoms appeared very quickly and the virus itself was incredibly contagious, petrifying nearly the whole village in a matter of days. Once Freyja's parents contracted the virus and practically turned into a stone-like stasis, her sibling ran away from home and Freyja was left alone. Determined to do something about the rapidly dire circumstances, she recalled a legend stated in one of her old books that told of a cure-all herb located in a cave system nearby the lake she called home. This was the Dragonfly Flower, and after debating the ethical consequences of her actions, she plucked it right out from the soil and ran to the Guild to seek a proper way to utilize its compounds as an antidote.

Freyja applied for the Environmental Division upon arriving at Eversun City, thinking they would have the necessary information for her to be able to dissect the plant and reveal its natural cure-all compounds. However, it took ten years for Freyja to realize her naivety, and never found any information regarding the virus itself or what made the Dragonfly Flower so legendary. Finally, she dissected a petal from the flower, analyzed its components, and strives to create a chemically equivalent mix of herbal compounds to mimic the Dragonfly Flower's effects.

Alas, her plan didn't merely stop there.

In order for Freyja to test the full, intended effectiveness of her engineered remedies, she needed an active copy of the virus. Not knowing precisely how it functioned, she now occupies herself with wildly creating this coveted copy through her own means. As a result, she tests a myriad of poisonous combinations through herbal phytotoxins and other dangerous concoctions that could potentially lead to replicating the virus's functions and testing them on her own body. Amidst this obsessive engineering, these activities captured the Contingency Division headmaster(s) attention, and they requested her to be moved to fully capitalize on her intelligence and ability to manufacture medicines at an alarming rate. She then spends another decade working for the Contingency Division within the confines of her new office, without anyone to disturb her (on an ideal day).

Freyja, now a high-ranking botanical doctor in the Contingency Division, actively sees patients on the regular and holds such extensive knowledge on the natural aspects of plants and their healing abilities that, combined with her own arcane abilities, is considered a halfway miracle doctor. She is able to examine anyone and point out certain ailments and always has a vial on hand with medicine to cure the exact problem. She cares for her patients, but not in the way of getting attached, and only sees this job as a bridge to further her own research and selfish ideals.
