A pact or bond occurs when any being makes a deal, confirmed verbally or somatically (Either a clear agreement or a handshake will do) with a being either partially or fully made of aether. The currently known examples of beings who can make pacts are Dragons, Fae, Devil-Kin, Angel-Kin, Elementals, Sovereigns, & Monarchs. When one agrees to a pact, they undertake a condition in exchange for something of value to them. The most common pact is one for power in exchange for servitude. There are 2 forms of pacts.Literal & Emotional.

Sadly, there is not currently a known way to safely exit a Pact without repercussions, & while those may not always be fatal, they are rarely ever beneficial. When someone feels they are about to break the conditions of a Pact, they are overcome with a feeling of dread. One thing of note is that collateral for a Pact must always be something of value.

Literal Pacts

Literal Pacts follow what is literally said. The conditions are agreed upon & someone could find loopholes based on wording. Often, these pacts are made with the intent & expectation that the other will find ways to circumvent the other party. As with both pacts, breaking this, depending on the terms, can be devastating. Fae, Devil-Kin, & Sovereigns are known for these types of Pacts.

Emotional Pacts

Emotional Pacts are quite the opposite. While what said does matter, what more matters are the feelings someone puts into them. If you agree to a condition, any attempt to cheat the system, as it were, will result in punishment. In contrast, even if the other party feels you have broken the rules, as long as you feel you’ve done your due diligence, you will remain unharmed. Dragons, Angel-Kin, & Monarchs are known for these types of Pacts.
