Nyx Roseblood is a lesser kindred roaming the lands in search of ultimate power. Caught in the ice age calamity caused by Lyna Solai, she slept in the ice for 107 years. Her time trapped in the ice left her with light symptoms of amnesia (forgetting details of her past), and significant muscle atrophy.

Lamenting the loss of her previously (self-described) incredible strength, she spends a lot of her time training and wandering.

Appearance

Kindred Traits

Nyx is a sheep kindred, giving her horns and hair with wool like qualities.

Horns

Nyx has large upwards pointing horns. They normally curl inwards and form a spiral, but she takes special care of them to make sure they grow in a more imposing manner.

What? No, this shape is completely natural.

Hair

Her hair grows very quickly and is very fluffy, like sheep's wool. She often cuts it short just so she doesn't have to think about it a while. It takes about a month to reach her lower back (so about an inch per day). It's naturally a deep blonde.

It grows back so fast. I'm sure I could sell it...

Body

Nyx stands about 5'4" and is built pretty sturdily. There's a solid layer of muscle underneath her squishy exterior.

I know, I know. You've never seen such beauty.

Eyes

Nyx's eyes are heterochromatic. Her left eye is a dark blue; her right is is a deep red.

Oh, this? Long ago, I met an poor, blind, old lady who asked me for bread. Not only did I give her my last loaf, I gave her my right eye. She was so moved, she rewarded me with this demon eye. It rules.

Personality

Nyx is a rough personality to deal with. She believes herself to have a greater purpose, and has very high expectations of herself. She also takes special care of image around other people. Not exactly a hero but not a villain, either.

She's very soft, loving, and kind. She's easy to bruise and has a hard time getting back up once she falls off the horse. However, this is all hidden behind her facade of dark heroicism. She portrays herself as a confident, strong, rowdy, and important figure. While obviously a defense mechanism, it also serves as an avenue for her to "fake it 'til you make it."

Always having something to prove, she can be combative, taunting, and arrogant. She never means to cause any harm, hoping that other people will take her bravado as a challenge instead of a threat.

Nyx loves to be silly, goof around, dance, play, and drink.

Biography

Early Life

Not much is known about Nyx's early years. In 1111, Nyx (20) ran away from her home town. She spent the time searching for herself, upset about her curse and determined to find a way to break it. She ventured to the continent underneath Lyrrh al Stahl, in part hoping to meet a dragon.

In 1121, 10 years after Nyx's departure from home, Lyna Solai made contact with the forest beneath, starting a calamitous ice age. Nyx was, unfortunately, caught in the calamity and was instantly frozen solid.

Rescue

In the year 1228, the Guild would depart on a multi-division venture to the calamitous region to study the area and perhaps find a way to reverse the permafreeze.

While there, the team would find Nyx, frozen. They would save her from her cold prison, much worse for wear. Unconscious but still living, they would take her back to Eversun City for emergency medical attention.

Her mind and body deteriorated from her time in the ice. Her friends and family from 107 years past are long gone, but without her memories, she can't yet mourn for them.

For the two years she's been free, she has spent her time working on her physical health and strength. She has forgotten about her curse, only remembering her inability to cast any magic.

Wayfaring

In 1228, shortly after her rescue, Pterra Whitt met with her in the hospital to request that she join the Guild. Nyx and adamantly replies, "No, I'm a lone wolf. I don't need a 'guild' to keep a leash on me and tell me what to do." After about 30 seconds behind closed doors with him, she emerges, very happy.

"Hey guys, I'm a wayfarer now!" *points to armband*

No one knows what was said to her.

After being informed by Kitori Kanna that she can't just be a wayfarer because Whitt said so, she begrudgingly enrolled in basic academy curriculum. She passed with decent marks the year after.

Curse

Before becoming frozen, Nyx had become cursed. She wants attention, and wants to be special. She has a strong belief that skilled casters are worth praise and adoration. Thus, she put a lot of pressure on herself to become a renowned, skillful mage. Even attempting a second aspect before she even had a handle on her main aspect. The mental strain she put on herself led to a curse that prevents her from casting at all. Subconsciously, she feels: "No one can call me a failure as a mage if I can't cast in the first place."

Relationships

• Lyna Solai: Nyx saw Lyna in her noodly wyrm form in the Ginkgo Tree Tavern and immediately ran over to pick her up and freak out over seeing an actual dragon. Somehow they've become friends.
• Keldwyn Flannery: Kel is beloved, skilled, and accomplished. On top of this, she also has horns and is a pirate. Nyx honestly thinks she's extremely cool and respects her, but her pride outweighs those feelings. Nyx is combative with Kel because she wants to prove she's cooler. Kel doesn't think much of her and even finds it entertaining, using Nyx's antics as an opportunity to tease her.
• Hyalt Keylen: A short time after being released from the hospital, Nyx sought out Hyalt in an attempt to simultaneously learn archery and regain some physical strength. Nyx (annoyingly) becomes satisfied with her experience and quits archery after Hyalt painstakingly taught her for two weeks. Hyalt, being the kind person she is, still keeps in touch and puts up with her antics.

Nyx's stats are distributed something like the below picture. These are meant to give other writers a better idea of how their characters measure up, not to be seen as law.

• Moxy/Guts: Nyx is mostly strong and brave, taking challenges head on and relying on her power and durability. A "tank."
• Smarts / Savvy: She isn't very well educated, but she can read people pretty well, even if she doesn't show it. She plays the part that she thinks she needs to be, but isn't a fool.
• Mojo: She can't cast any magic whatsoever due to her curse.
• Glamour: She doesn't tend to charm or manipulate people to get what she wants, as she prefers other people be willing and enthusiastic about their choices.
• Luck: Nyx would describe herself as an enemy of fate.

• Is a very lightweight drinker. Gets lovey dovey when inebriated, except with Keldwyn Flannery.
• Pretends to be left-handed. When she's serious, she switches to her right hand.
• Keeps a journal on her at all times in which she documents her travels. They are highly embellished.
• Closeted bi.
• Can't remember if she's ever been in any romantic relationships.
• After regaining consciousness, she cut her hair short. It was too heavy for her while recovering.
