Appearance
Lyna's alternate form stands at about 167cm in height, and she is typically seen smiling. She has waist-length hair that is a pink to purple gradation in colour. Throughout her hair are short rounded shapes looking like fins of a sea creature that are yellow to blue in colour with light spots on each shape. In this form she also retains her long, peach/yellow tail as well as some fin-appendage shapes on the sides of her face. When heading out to the field, she typically wears a long white coat cuffed above her elbow and hangs below her knees. She wears a choker and has the guild-assigned armband belonging to the Arcane Sciences Division. Under her jacket is a singlet/short jumpsuit outfit that she wears over tights. She typically also wears a few belts with pouches attached to them around her waist, carrying various vials and papers to take notes on.
Lyna's dragon form is long and slender shape. All along her whole body has small leaf-like shapes that follow along her spine, ends of her wings, around her head and arms/legs that resemble some kind of leafy sea creature. Her body is peach/orange in colour, with the tips of her leafy-appendages going into a blue/purple gradation. She retains her fingerless gloves in this form. Her wings have very light spots towards the ends.
Personality
Prior to her fall from Lyrrh al Stahl, Lyna was a short-tempered, arrogant and had an Icarus complex. She had an easy to set off temper and would often vent her frustrations of being talked down by sharpening her combat abilities.
After living among the cities and with the people on the surface, Lyna's attitude shifted from hot-headed short-tempered to one of patience and care. Usually seen smiling, she's eager to understand both the world and people around her as some customs still feel foreign to her. Although she has a more mellowed-out persona in recent times, she's always more than willing to spar with her friends (for fun, or if she feels they would need a way to vent where words or physical touch would fail).
Biography
Early Life
Born on 33rd of Nova, 1086, she had been welcomed into a family of four, with Lyna marking five. Due to being the youngest of her siblings she had not been offered much attention or support from those around her. She had realised in being the youngest, that no matter her skill or how much effort and finesse she had in controlling her aspect or skills with a weapon, she would not be offered the attention from her family or the others around her.
Regardless of anything she had worked hard to prove in her short time being alive, it wouldn't matter. She would always be the youngest, and therefore would never be something more than that. And nothing would change that. When dismissed by others, she would often be heard grumbling out, "don't tell me what I can't do" in a huff.
As a result, she had often vented her frustrations about lack of care or attention through honing her affinity with her natural affinity to ice and general weaponry interests (though having a strong bias towards rapiers). Unfortunate to those around her but fortunate for her ego, Lyna had developed a rather large and destructive Icarus complex by ways of an unrivaled passion for tests of combat skills (for the sport, rather than the exercise of it which some in Lyrrh al Stahl has practiced it for.)
As custom for residents of Lyrrh al Stahl when they would reach about the age of 50, Lyna had attempted her coming-of-age ritual for taking to the skies around the Sky City. In the year 1121, she however (to much grumbling and displeasured words from those around her) attempted her flight at the young age of 35 with much misplaced gusto and an air of a burning, unflappable confidence.
She, of course, failed.
Catastrophically.
When the young Dragon was about to make contact with the lush forest far, far, far, far below Lyrrh al Stahl, Lyna's mental state had shifted from one of firm arrogance in her ability to pass to one of realisation for imminent failure. That fear had manifested in Lyna's ice aspect losing control in a small moment, forcing the entire surrounding area to be cast into an eternal icy landscape in a desperate act to soften the impact of her fall.
It didn't. The land was frozen, Lyna unconscious, and the once serene greenery shaped into something unnatural and harsh unfamiliar to this area. Left unconscious, Lyna had a short moment of awareness among the sharp, translucent shards of aether infused ice shaped around her as a cradle before her consciousness slipped away.
Unknown to the Dragon in a state of drifting awareness, Keldwyn Flannery's pirate crew had retrieved and ferried her back to the city of Eversun (although Lyna claims she doe not remember as much from this time, she truthfully she does recall a girl singing quiet songs to her along the glacial waters). After some time, Lyna had awoken to the Elvaari by her side in non-guild affiliated medical facility where she had received care for her issues with the aetheric imbalances between Lyrrh al Stahl and the land below.
Some Years Later
Never seen without one another, Lyna and Kel spent an unknown amount of time together living the best they could on the streets of Eversun city before both joining the Adventurer's Guild. Under the care and support of the guild, Lyna had been drawn to the studies of the Arcane Sciences Division. Not only for the research into aether itself and possible fix for her now issues with long and short term recollection, but also for a possible avenue to possibly stopgap the flow of the sudden polar biome that had "suddenly" appeared below Lyrrh al Stahl.
... To Now
In the current year, Lyna studies within the Arcane Sciences Division having learnt the aspect of fire as she hadn't realised such a thing was feasible outside of old draconic folklore and stigma. Still quick to lean into her old tendencies of roughhousing with her rapier in hand and aspects of ice and fire at the ready, Lyna remains as upbeat and excitable about challenges and issues that may come her way and strives to solve the environmental accident she caused with passion.
Contributions
- As a part of the memetic curse of Dragons, Lyna did not and could not use a second aspect. She didn't ever have the thought to before landing on the surface. Through the (unintentional) help of Freyja Lest, her (accidental) encouragement to learn fire as an aspect to control the snowscape Lyna had made prompted her to understand that 1) curses exist, 2) she has one (through draconic belief of not being able to learn a second aspect) and 3) she can break it.
- Now a trailblazer in understanding and breaking this specific curse, she often assists other afflicted fallen dragons who arrive in Eversun if requested.
- Accidentally made global warming exist under Lyrrh al Stahl when she fell. (placeholder)
Abilities
LN2
- Both her combat abilities and aspects in general are more focused on environmental disruption or harmony with it. With her ice and fire, she can freeze large areas around her in a liquid nitrogen-like state. Fire for her is less of a focus, however burns from such a cold temperature can still occur if she is physically touched in this state, or if contact is made with the area she has frozen.
- The intensity of both vary on two factors:
1 - If the area is large enough, then the potency of the ice is less effective on the ground and less focused. Conversely, 2 - If the area is small and focused, then the potency of the ice is stronger on both the ground and on Lyna herself.
Catalyst
- Using her fire with ice, she can ignite the -196 °C ice around her instantly into a gaseous state to make a foggy effect on the field to distract enemies in fights.
Avarice
- Her rapier (lovingly named Avarice, one of the very few things she can recall pre-fall) seems to be attuned to her own aether. The hand guard will only unfurl whenever she reaches for the handle of it, then coils around her knuckles and wrist when grasped. Lyna is certain there is a being within the rapier, though this is unconfirmed. (image to be added Eventually™️ i'm tired)
- When in use, Avarice slowly saps Lyna's aether making her lethargic over a long period of time, in return for being able to pin-point focus the aspect along the blade and coating itself in an liquid nitrogen stiletto shape (varying each time she does this). When channelling fire, the blade becomes searing and red-hot.
Other
- Can transform into a dragon at will, although happens to slip in and out of the form with less control when very drunk.
Relationships
slaps the top of lyna's head this dragon can fit so many silly friends in it
Trivia
- Left handed.
- Cannot swim.
- Prefers the outdoors.
- While she technically does have a family, she cannot remember them due to her fall from Lyrrh al Stahl to the surface which caused permanent damage to her memory.
- Had a curse that made it unable to learn a second aspect, although in present time it is now broken.
- Owns her mistakes as much as her victories.
- Lyna claims there's an entity within her rapier, Avarice, but no one believes her. There totally is, though. Why wouldn't there be? Like, why else would she talk to it sometimes, then? That would be just silly.
