Archivist Division
The Archivist Division is one of the ten major divisions of the Adventurers' Guild. The written shorthand version is "ACD." Its uniform armband is a dusty white color, and the signature gemstone embedded into the star embroidery is an opal.
Overview
The Archivist Division is tasked with documenting *everything* in Castrella. They are the final destination in the pipeline of research, accepting all research from the other Divisions once finalized and ready for publication.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Archivist Division employees are the busiest out of all the Divisions, as their workload is most demanding and often pushes the mentality of beneficial overtime. Whether it be sitting at a desk and proofreading hundreds of thousands of words a day to publish a document, or running from platform to platform in the Grand Library to categorize books properly on their shelves.
Responsibilities
It is ultimately up to the originating Division on how to classify information, from public accessible knowledge to highly restricted information only upper management has access to. However, the Archivist Division still facilitates the process of proofreading, printing, and publishing these works. Every piece of research, record, documentation, and file submitted finds a home within the shelves of the Archivist Grand Library at the end of the day.
The Archivist Division departments within the Hearth are mostly office cubicles and printing rooms. These employees are tasked with organizing files, proofreading documents, formatting books, and printing and binding tomes for handling. The Archivist Grand Library is attached to the Hearth in a semi-separate spire that the Archivist Division employees run solely by themselves. These employees are responsible for the organization, cleanliness, and accessibility of the information in the Grand Library. If there is a book out of place thanks to a lazy patron, a staff member will be there immediately to recategorize the misplaced information.
An Archivist Division employee doesn't necessarily have to be highly intelligent or have a vivid memory. Their job isn't to remember everything they are reviewing, they are mostly concerned with organization.
Known Subdivisions
The Archivist Grand Library
The AGL is a completely separate building from the Hearth, but still attached to the main hub. It is a network of spires, stairwells, and lifts, all organized within a system slightly reminiscent of the Dewey Decimal Classification system... whatever that is! The employees of the AGL are almost always seen running around with a book in hand, attempting to traverse kilometers and kilometers of space both horizontal and vertical just to make sure that book gets to where it needs to be. They're also responsible for directing patrons into the correct directions dependent on their needs, just like a regular library attendant. There are head taskmasters that are responsible for overseeing a particular section of the AGL in detail.
The AGL is accessible to the public, which does not exclude travelers and tourists from other territories. However, the higher up the spire, the higher level of classification is applied. Most public patrons only have access to the first two levels of the spires.
Proof, Print, & Present (PPP)
The office workers in the Hearth. Most Divisions will submit their ready-to-present information and research to a face representative of this subdivision, and that single document will go through an entire life cycle from idea to publication. It must be rewritten and reviewed for organization, formatting, and syntax errors prior to being printed. Once printed, tomemakers will be able to bind the books by hand. The first book returns to its originating Division for review, and then once approved, it makes its way to the shelves of the Archivist Grand Library. These blueprints are also saved for future use, just in case books go missing. Typically, most books do not see more than triple digits of production. The AGL typically only holds about less than a hundred copies of a book at a time, and the rest is distributed amongst the originating Division's employees according to relevancy.
