Miyu Saneyoshi is a freshly-joined member of the Civil Affairs Division. As a crime scene investigator, it's her job to lead the other officers into the right direction by gathering clues for them, and piecing things together. As a detective in her own right, it's her job to make sure the case doesn't run cold. Just don't get scared when she tells you she can see and communicate with ghosts!
Personality
Naive, a little clumsy, but she's otherwise assertive and is able to lock in when needed... most of the time. Kinda short tempered? It's more of a "stop wasting my time" or "this case/these clues are getting me nowhere" type of short temper. Frustration, yes. Her tendency to get easily emotionally moved by things sometimes gets in the way of her line of work.
Abilities
Pondering Serenity
She can tune out the world around her whenever she gets deep in thought, she gets really deep in thought. Her hearing becomes noticeably muffled, while the people and the world around her become nothing but silhouettes to her. According to her grandfather (a carpenter who apparently slayed a giant boar back in his prime), this is a curse brought upon her due to her overthinking tendencies, a good poke, or anything that can easily call her back to reality, can ground her back, but she won't appreciate being distracted like that. Miyu has gone on record saying that this has helped her considerabaly when thinking about a case.
Familiar Hachi
Hachi is Miyu's familiar, bird-like in shape, he works in tandem with Miyu to scout out the area and notify her of anything suspicious, he tends to be highly suspicious of people and tends to peck people, and his feathers ruffle because of just about anything.
The Third Eye of Saneyoshi (Still tentative!)
This is a boon that has been passed down generationally among the youth of the Saneyoshi family, even if siblings were to be born, only one bearer of this ability can exist amongst those born for the next generation. According to family tradition, the bearer of this ability can, among other things, “perceive unclouded truths." However, no one has been able to confirm that. And whoever could had already died of age. Oops.
- Miyu is this generation's bearer of the ability, not a biological eye by any means, the Third Eye grants her a sixth sense of sorts, granting her, for instance… the ability to react to certain things ahead of time and react accordingly. This… gets in the way of things, believe it or not. It also spikes up her awareness, which… often brings more problems than solutions, she's been barred from certain fair activities for this very reason!
- The awakening to this power wasn't exactly the most pleasureable either— mental note; have some headache relief in hand. As the final kicker, she's able to see and commune with ghosts. There's a reason she kindly skips the graveyard visits. Believe it or not, communing with the dearly departed has served useful in a few unorthodox cases that would've otherwise gone cold.
Backstory
Miyu Saneyoshi is a very recent recruit in Civil Affairs, Miyu joins the CAD working as a simple detective, most of the time she's sent to watch over crime scenes, although she ends up snooping in and investigating on her own often. She got into detective work because of the countless mystery books she's spent a good part of her life reading, even during academy hours. CAD had doubts of her becoming an Enforcer this early into her carreer in the division, so she was put into crime scene investigation apart from her detective work. Personally, she considers herself a detective that dabbles more into the arcane.
- While her two other sisters took the paths of adventuring and archiving, Miyu herself desired to become a great detective, believing that the world has many wrongs and mysteries that are often left without answer. Considering her personality and overthinking habits however, her sisters partially dismissed her, saying that she'd have better chances as anything other than a detective, a profession that requires a good amount of intuition. Once she gets good enough at her job, she wishes to open up a detective agency. She takes it up to herself to prove them wrong.
- She is the wielder of a hierloom weapon (shape and form TBA) that has been passed down through the sons and daughters of the Saneyoshi family for generations, it's a weapon she does not use a lot due to its importance, but for some reason unknown to her, she's able to wield it as if she had years of practice put into it. …For the most part. Certain techniques seem to be naturally lost to her.
Trivia
- She was almost a Wayfarer, once. She didn't go through with it because, and in her words, "We have plenty of wayfarers already, don't we?"
- In her quarters lies a corkboard used to work on whatever case she's fixating on at the moment, string and all.
- Her favorite animal is the cluckertoo, and she wants to keep one, however, she worries that she wouldn't be able to properly look after it. Hers would be named Eureka.
- Not a big fan of pranks and other amusing effects, she can't discern joke from actual intent...
- Her go-to breakfast dish is french toast, sometimes she settles for just toast if she's late to work.
- She has been barred from several "intuition" based games at community events. She does this to herself because otherwise it wouldn't be fun. She gets deep into thought and, before you know it, she lands the guess first try.
- When someone tells her not to snoop in on things, her response is usually "I'm a detective, it's MY job to 'snoop in' on things that 'don't concern me'."
- Sometimes loses sleep because of the Third Eye of Saneyoshi, sometimes this leads her to follow a case late at night...
- A ghost from the family seems to be with her at every given moment. She has a pretty lighthearted relationship with it, but wishes to focus on her job at every given time. This ghost was the first thing she saw after coming to from her awakening to the Third Eye of Saneyoshi.
