Ilsa d'Ubevaldi is a human member of the Civil Affairs Division of the Adventurer's Guild in Eversun City. She is a facilitator, a member of Guild staff whose job revolves around responding to ongoing problems, difficulties, or shortfalls in Guild operations, and finding solutions that allow operations to return to normal, efficient running.

Experienced. Efficient. Expeditious. Extremely tired. Tasked with finding the sticking points in the operation of the guild - of which there are seemingly infinite - and getting things moving again, which requires flexibility, creativity, a both broad and deep knowledge base, and the right balance of stiffness and flexibility. Excels at this task, but to the point of perpetual exhaustion and burnout: a condition she has a tendency to make other peoples’ problem, too. Very much focused on solving problems and resolving issues, with little patience for pleasantries and frivolity. Competent and impatient with others’ incompetence. Generally disdains armed confrontation but is a trained swordswoman. Does not permit herself the free time to pursue hobbies or special interests, but has a brilliant deftness with manual manipulation of objects and sleight of hand - skills honed over years of waiting impatiently for other people to catch up to her.

Biography

Ilsa Gaetana was born to Viscount Ardwin d'Ubevaldi and the Lady Petra Jonolovic as the third child of a family long renowned for their tradition of public service, and notorious for permitting their ancestral demesne to be corrupted by Law so completely that the whole realm was lost to corruption. While the stigma has largely washed off with time and the family's fortunes have recovered modestly, it remains a stain upon their psyche that House Ubevaldi tries desperately to scour away. This leads perhaps to the family's other renowned tradition of headstrong and hotblooded heirs of the family attempting to make their name in adventure and perishing spectacularly as a result. Ilsa stands in stark contrast to her deceased elder brothers and forebears in that respect; though she has a noblewoman's education in self-defense and combat, she largely scorns outright violence, and rarely leaves the guarded confines of Eversun City or her family's demi-manor and tumblebee ranch. Instead, she threw herself into the fine art of bureaucracy, and proved to have such a formidable mind for facts, figures, and laws that she was practically conscripted into the Civil Affairs Division, and has run a somewhat unusual career track to the role of 'facilitator'. This is not a post of rigidly defined duties, like clerk or tax collector or surveyor, but rather is the first point of call for any Guild official who needs a robust solution to an intractable problem. Contract negotiations with a supplier breaking down? Quality of work at a Guild workshop slipping? Urgent need for provisions following a disaster? It falls to a CAD facilitator to make contact with the relevant parties, and find a solution that allows everybody to move forward.

Relationships

Within the Guild, the click of Ilsa's boots on the floorboards is either a heavens-sent relief or a bone-chilling terror, depending on how directly responsible one is for the present crisis at hand. She is not an outwardly friendly, chatty, or amiable person, and her patience has been so worn down over years of stressful CAD work that she has been known to snap rather ruthlessly at people whether they deserve it or not, but her purpose is to solve problems and get Guild business moving again, and she has many tools at her disposal to do so: whether it be the power of the purse, the bureaucracy, temporarily assigning extra manpower from other districts, awarding emergency contracts, rolling up her sleeves to do the hard work herself, or even cajoling equally stressed and frazzled employees to put in a little more effort until the end of the crisis. To that end, she gets along best with Guild personnel who are similarly effective at their jobs; the likes of Haladen Kloe and Ogrymnnir, whatever their faults personality-wise, fit well with her brusque, business-first-and-only mindset. She seems not to be as taken as most with Hanzekihel Oulieus, but there are sly remarks going around about her oft-rebutted attraction to Leit Hamlet - a salacious rumor, given the persistent tale going around that she got married to a complete stranger one Jubilation eve...
