An Elvaari man with 178cm for height and a concerning amount of weight. He has a pale complexion and can often be seen with a very tired or uninterested expression on his face. He has a long blue-silver hair which he usually puts it in a braid. His silver coloured eyes appear to look very glass-like.  


He often wears clothes in monochrome or muted colours. This man doesn’t have any fashion sense and is often coordinated by [[Vriella Oulieus|Vriella]] when in need.


Hanzekihel was like any other child when he was young until the one day that changed his life came and that is, the day both of his parents passed away from an accident. Him, unable to accept the fate that fell upon them, was then diagnosed as a Faltered. The loss of them both did a huge toll on himself to the point that he happens to unconsciously return to his younger self’s physique, even to this day.

Uninterested and unbothered would be the two main expressions this man carry everyday. However, despite how he looks, he often keeps his eyes peeled and ears open for his surroundings. He is very careful unless distracted. He doesn’t put up a smile and even if he does, it would mostly be a forced smile, rarely a genuine one. If he ever showed any other expressions, he has a habit of covering his face with his hand(s) or turning away as long as he can hide his face.


After the death of his parents, he started living with his grandmother, who helped a lot in building up his once weakened [[Arcane Energy#Aether|Aether]]. His efforts showed progress little by little.
Hanzekihel doesn’t really talk much unless necessary. His way of speech tend to be more formal with strangers or people he’s not really close with while he is actually very relaxed when it comes to friends and family.

He sometimes styles his hair in a bun if work gets too much. A red ruby can be seen on his forehead as he was born with it. His eyes are grey/silver, same as his deceased mother. He is often mistaken as a female due to his physique and facial structure. (The female genes in the Oulieus family runs strong.)


His younger self’s appearance is a boy with similar skinny body that looks like he’d faint any second.


At most time, he can be seen wearing a white cloak and equipped with a staff. He usually wears a black with grey pants.

Whenever his younger self makes an appearance, there are times when he gets carried away by the emotions of his younger days. A carefree, happy child. He was only eight when everything happened. The two lovely couple, both members of the Guild, had urgent missions given to them. Due to the emergency, they had to leave their one and only son to the closest relative. Lady Vriella Oulieus, Hanzekihel’s grandmother, is not fond of her son-in-law but her daughter was her everything. She did it because Kihel had nowhere to go and it was only for a few nights. Who would’ve known that that would be the final goodbye. The couple died in the most mysterious way, reported as ‘an accident’ but it was too convenient to call it an accident. The bodies were missing and there were no other hints other than the large amount of blood at the incident.

It was a rainy morning when ‘the men in uniform’ came to relay the devastating news. The weather was as if portraying the child’s reaction at that time. He couldn’t accept it at all. That was when he started hating the rain.

She felt terrible for not noticing it earlier, her daughter must’ve been very disappointed and hated her for not looking after her precious son.

Hanzekihel Oulieus, is an Elvaari researcher at the Adventurer’s Guild. He originally joined to help himself find a cure for his Faltered condition. He is a researcher under The Studium who had also been contributing into the Staff & Scabbard subdivision.

Health Condition

“Hanzekihel has the potential to control other aspects if it wasn’t due to his condition. However, he also has the chances to destroy everything around him if the curse takes control of his mind completely. Keep an eye on him.” -Notes left on a piece of paper by ???

The curse that manifested into him after the passing of his parents has been eating up his mind. Due to that, his aether levels were close to none. The Curse has made him harder to live as he kept turning back to his younger self, specifically when he was eight years old. There’s no specific cause to it other than having it happen at the most random times. Maybe there are times when he allowed the Curse to take over and revert himself to a child, but that was never clear.

Aether condition: His aether is originally already at a low level as compared to a regular healthy Elvaari. Therefore, when he turns into a child, his aether returns to a level close to none. He’s powerless. It usually takes up at least 2 to 3 hours for him to return to his current age. He prefers resting or sleeping during those times.

He should be able to wield more elements but the curse is restricting him. Water seems to be the highest potential for him and yet that’s the current most impossible element for him to deal with.

The High Elder has casted a spell on him after he was almost consumed by the Faltered crystals. A seal-rune can be seen on his back.

Mental condition: Terrible. Questionable. Acts like normal most of the time.

Physical condition: He lacks proper nutritions, lacks sleep. Suggestion: proper daily meals and get him to sleep at regular hours.

Equipments

Staff of the Oulieus Family

Elvaari generally does not need a tool, but in Hanzekihel’s case, this staff is very much needed. The Staff of the Oulieus Family is a family heirloom. The staff is usually hand down when the next in line reaches 70 years old. Hanzekihel received the Staff at age 10 under the orders of the Oulieus’ Elder, Lady Vriella, to help him with his condition. There were those who were against the decision but The Elder’s decision was final. He was indeed just a child, but she saw the potential in him. The Staff can change it’s appearance based on the user/owner. When the Staff was once again awakened by Hanzekihel, it took form of the crescent moon because the day he was born was on a waning crescent moon.

  • “After all these years, I still don’t feel worthy enough to be holding the Staff. She would’ve been a more suited candidate for the next in line.”

White Cloak

The cloak he wears everyday is also an equipment to support is Aether capabilities. It is a large while cloak, covering almost his whole body, which comes with a hood. There are golden decorations around the cloak, tassels at the end of the sleeves. The inner side of his cloak can be seen as if it’s a whole night sky, filled with constellations. Did he do this? Who knows.

Valuables

Silver-winged Brooch

A brooch that he often wears. If not seen, it is probably stored in his pocket or anywhere close. The brooch was found at the location of his parents’ death and was actually the only thing found. Vriella had been keeping it safe for the longest time and only handed it to him after he decided to head out to Eversun. The brooch has a surprise in it, it actually holds a photo of the family and had been there even before the tragedy.

Secret Candy Stash

A rumour has it that he keeps a hidden stash filled with candies, but no one could ever guess where. If one were to guess, it’s probably in his hood or sleeves! It is filled with hard candies for whenever he needs a distraction and a bit of sugar.

His grandmother, the High Elder of the Oulieus family and his most trusted person. Whenever Hanzekihel is with Vriella, his most true self, most honest can finally be seen. There are no secrets between the two of them. Even if they often sound like they hate each other…

Eleanor Valentine

“Eleanor? She seems to be able to remember the tea and snacks that I like. Am I that easy to read…?”

It is impossible for a member of the Guild to not know the existence of Eleanor. No matter how hard he tries to avoid Eleanor, she’d always find a way to show up in front of him anyway. She was only a child when they first met and as she grows older, she’s gotten clingier to the Elvaari. Hanzekihel has long given up on avoiding Eleanor, allowing her to do whatever she wants. With that said, he actually doesn’t hate the company she gives. It would be a complete lie to say that his Curse isn’t affecting Eleanor, he knows it more than anyone that it actually does hence whenever Eleanor is around, he tries his best to not be pulled down by his emotions. On a side note, Eleanor often brings him snacks so he clearly can’t get rid of her!

Calliope Keylen

“Calliope, wherever you are, I hope you’re safe.”

Before her disappearance twenty-one years ago, they were fellow co-workers. Calliope, with another member of the Guild, often hangs around together as time goes on. Hanzekihel looked up to her and she would always help him out whenever he’s troubled whether if it’s about any research, materials, or even his own well-being. Calliope often talks about her daughter and truth be said, he actually has never felt annoyed or irritated by her obsession with her family. Perhaps, a slight envy but he’s happy for them. Her sudden disappearance has never left his mind especially when her daughter, Hyalt, often pops up around him.

Micaiah Finch

“You told me not to kick the bucket before you, but how would I know if you two are coming back?”

An Errant who worked under the Archivist Division. Micaiah and Calliope were the ones who show up quite often few decades ago to check on him, especially if Calliope ever drops by Eversun. Hanzekihel often thinks that Micaiah treats him like a child and yet that never actually bothered him. In fact, he feels calmer when someone treats him that way, in a way that he knows someone actually cares about him, too. Not just his family. The news about the fire was a terrible surprise. Having two close friends disappearing without a trace has technically taken a huge toll on him but he tries not to show it.

Hyalt Keylen

“…I wish you can see her all grown up now, Calliope.”

Hyalt, daughter of Calliope Keylen, a friend from the past. Hanzekihel knows of Hyalt ever since she was a baby and it was all because of her loving mother shoving baby pictures of Hyalt into his face. Meeting Hyalt all grown up reminded the fact that it’s been such a long time for humans but such a short time for a long-live species like him. The young woman often shows up at his door to see him, sometimes to simply bother the Elvaari and sometimes, just to sit around for a chat and enjoy a good tea time.

Korin Altair

“I… have no comments on him.”

How did they know each other? How did they meet? The truth only the two would have answers to.

Maya Nephim

“Her illness, is still a mystery.”

Maya was someone who had been looking out for him and his unstable health condition, whether it’s mentally or physically. She was an amazing doctor, very passionate with her job. Her grave is also one of the graves he visits from time to time, to pay his respects for an old friend.

Megumi Nen

“The daughter of the Nen family? She’s very talented, yes. An amazing individual.”

Other than having Megumi in the Arcane Sciences, they were also acquainted through Maya, when she was still around. The two usually may not have much to converse about but when they do, it’s a never ending yap and constantly nerd out together about anything science related. Hanzekihel may not show it, but he is concerned about Megumi’s condition after losing a loved one. The visit to Maya’s grave is also because he mainly wants to accompany Megumi.

Lyna Solai

“She’s strong. A bit too strong, perhaps. How many times have she broken down my door?”

A fellow member of the Arcane Sciences Division. Sometimes reliable, sometimes concerning. Lyna has been a member for much longer than he has. He hoped that she could help around with some of his research but Lyna’s energy is sometimes too much for him to handle. The dragon means well and would always care for him but he wouldn’t want to put his burden on others. Due to him not opening up, Lyna often bullies him with love and affection.

Leo Eridanus

“It’s always the Corruption. Hm? Sorry, I was just talking to myself.”

A member of the Wayfarer’s Division. Another being that “bothers” Hanzekihel from time to time. Most of the time, he has no idea what Leo wants from him. Whenever Leo starts talking about anything, he usually responds with a simple nod or just a one-word reply. Despite the fact that Hanzekihel hates to be bothered while working, he’s just allowing some people yap away because he knows that it’ll help in some way. (For him, and for the yapper-)

Leit Hamlet

“Ah……………….. Leit.”

Just a gremlin he can’t stand. The newer member who joined in the Arcane Sciences Division just a few years ago. Leit often pulls pranks on Hanzekihel and that bothers him a bit too much as it disturbs his peace and quiet.

Ari Lancaster

“I’ve known Ari for a while. It’s never a good thing to ever interact with this thing.”

The Oulieus and the Lancaster family have been acquaintances since long ago. A family friend. Ari has been teasing Hanzekihel a bit too much. There was an incident that happened some time ago that he never managed to seek the truth out of Ari. Maybe he never will.

Eisen Grimm

“… Eugh. Not him.”

The day these two met in the woods was probably one of the worst days for Hanzekihel. A meeting he wished it would have never happened. That one meeting has made these two against each other, every single day, every possible minute, upon seeing the other. The only peace they have is when it’s lunch time. Grimes will never agree to Hanze, and Hanze will never accept Grimes’ creations.

Trivia

  • Voice claim: Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (specifically Sytry Cartwright from devils and realist or Xiao from Genshin Impact.)
  • He doesn’t actually hate you, he prefers not to be close with anyone because he’s scared of losing anymore loved ones. It’s not going that well. He got attached to a few and they’re gone now! :)
  • Alcohol tolerance: Zero. If you make him drink, be prepared to take responsibilities of whatever happens after.
  • He may act childlike when he turns into a child but you can use that against him.
  • Hates his birthday because that was when the news about his parents’ death came in.
