When he was a child, he enjoyed watching his Father, [[Averill Méliès\|Averill]], and the Family put together shows within their theatre, sparking his interest in wanting to learn about all aspects of running a show. As his sister took the initiative on learning how to dance, Dez felt he wanted to let her have that chance and learn one of the other skills that make sure shows run smoothly. When his Dad, Caelin, comes home with a shipment of clothing for the shows that were running, Dez finds that, considering how important it was to have costumes appropriate for the dancers and actors, it sparked an interest in learning how to work with it.
