One day, Ulvultar planned to escape the House of Ballahast. He urged Alterma to come with him so they could leave together. She agreed at first but on the night of ther planned escape, Alterma stayed behind. Afraid of the world outside Heartsford, she refused Ulvultar's hand, running back into the manor. Leaving Ulvultar behind outside the town's walls. Till this day, many say he had abandoned his sister, which in a way, he still did.

As they grew up they saw each other less and less, the next time the two would reunite would be when Alterma is assigned to be Vriella's guard. For a long while Vriella never noticed who was behind that mask until months later. Alterma would no longer call her by her name but rather 'My Ladyship', having lost all free will, she became a puppet to the House of Ballahast. It was only through Vriella's kindness she would regain back most of her humanity. Even though Alterma is very well aware Vriella is capable of taking care of herself, she is always ready to put her life on the line for her. Alterma loves and respects her like family.
