== Appearance ==
Mauriell stands at a moderately short 147.3 cm and has a rather thin and average build. As a Sea Angel Submatarius, they have pale blue skin with coral-colored hair, orange eyes and matching markings, most notably on their cheeks, chest, ends of fingers and toes, and at the ends of rounded horns on their head and small wings on their back. After being corrupted by Whimsy, some of these have begun to shift hue to be slightly pinkish, which is the most visible in his eyes and heart, as well as new circular markings appearing on his arms and legs, typically covered by long gloves and socks.

In her default mental state, her eyes have no light reflecting from them, while in the mental state of "Whimsy days", her eyes do reflect light like they did when she was young.

Their usual attire has their hair styled short and includes a tan shirt with chest and shoulder openings with its sleeves tied, loose blue shorts, matching white thigh-high socks and fingerless elbow-length gloves, as well as a long orange tailcoat and boots.

== Personality ==
Mauriell is a gentle and calmly composed individual with an intense and haphazard curiosity for all things arcane in nature, often willing to push themself into mortal peril for the sake of aetheric scientific discovery. He always has a soft, yet blank smiling expression on his face and never changes his lighthearted demeanor, talking in nonsensical metaphors, unfazed by even the most serious of moments. This extends to her opinion on Whimsy and even her own corruption as well, being rather open about its various physical and mental consequences despite the stigma and pressure it places on her.

== Biography ==
Mauriell was born and raised in one of the cities in The Reef of Umito, into a large family of mostly Sea Angel Submatarius known for their creative, particularly musical, endeavors. While Mauriell was taught how to sing as a child and did occasionally appear alongside their family during festival performances, it did very little to sway them from their passion for Aether, always playing around with the few spells he knew and aspiring to become a spellweaver once they were older. Between his studies of Aether and family business, he often wandered through the oceans to cool him off whenever overwhelmed, leading to one occasion as a teenager coming across the island of Lazlø. She was immediately intrigued by her new sensations in the water and swam onto the land to investigate, finding the entirety of the place and experience as a unique kind of beautiful that she had never experienced before. They explored for several hours until a throbbing headache began to build, and they turned to return home, only able to make it back to their family barely conscious by singing a simple melody. Taken into care immediately, it was found that he had been Corrupted by the island's Whimsy and was forever changed by its effects.

Mauriell though, found only further drive through this experience and continued with her plans to become a spellweaver, moving to Eversun to join its Guild despite everything, ending up in the Staff & Scabbard subdivision of the Arcane Sciences Division. In the 90 or so years since then, their corruption has been quite slow physically, much to their disappointment... though as of the year 1230, this has changed, with it intensifying at a rapid rate. As a consequence of his corruption, he can have really bad “Whimsy days”, overloading and overstimulating him physically and mentally, and they've only gotten worse over the years, beginning to bleed into his daily life, beyond days and into weeks and even months.

In an odd change of heart, Mauriell and her Whimsy Corruption have been at odds with each other for the entirety of the year 1231. With a song having cut through their Whimsied memories during the Stageplay of Frights, they've finally realized the horror of what's happened to them. He's lived so passively through a life he doesn't recognize as his own, having slowly overwritten who is Mauriell Somata at all. With her childhood dreams having been nearly snuffed out, there's still some pieces of her that remain, fighting against her Corruption to take her life into her own hands once more for whatever time she has left.

But it seems Whimsy doesn't like being fought against...

* One of his most notable traits is the melody constantly playing in his head, which he can often be found humming idly. This melody is one he's known since childhood from their family choir.
* Her family is quite large, with her having multiple older and younger siblings, and likely multiple nieces or nephews.

Calamus stands at a moderately tall 172.5 cm and has a thick midsize and strong build.

== Personality ==
Intimidating, tough, and strict. Very traditional and wise. There are specks of softness to be found very close to its chest, but you’ll have to know it in order to ever see it…

== Biography ==
Calamus was born many, many years ago in a humble underwater sugarcane farm in Umito’s upper layers. Due to this environment, Calamus grew up to value proper organization and rules, though rather obsessively strict on itself specifically in regards to these values. In his early thirties, the farm was struck by an anomalous famine, signalled by bright light shining from the ocean’s surface. The occurrence would be later known as happening due to an imbalance of Light aether, but at the time Calamus attempted to try and handle it themself to help out their family and neighbors, using very practical and organized techniques to adapt to the new climate. Even with the imbalance, Calamus’s work seemed to do the trick for about a year, not calling for any Guild assistance until it had come down with rather harsh aether sickness, due to the constant direct exposure to Light aether. This same exposure had opened his aether gland up to using Light, and due to this and his skills in handling the crisis before the Guild arrived, the Guild requested that he enroll to help manage the local Wayfarer’s Division, still struggling to find its footing at the time.

Reluctantly, Calamus moved away from home and enrolled in the Education Division Academy, where it joined the Wayfarer’s Division, mostly as a desk clerk, but taking some higher level spellcasting lessons on the side to help manage its two aspects. He quickly found out just how mismanaged the Division was, and began to work himself to the bone to handle it all, catching the eye of the Headmaster at the time. They would organize the jobs coming in to each Wayfarer’s own talents, which they had collected themself, sometimes doing the commissioned work if they deemed it “far too simple for an adventurer”. While this left little free time to itself, its work was consistently excellent and praised by both the commissioners and the fellow Wayfarers who it had helped. Eventually, when it came time for the Headmaster to step down after half a century, the title was personally passed onto Calamus.

Ever since then, its filled its role very well, and despite its… somewhat iron fist, its pretty well loved by its coworkers. He occasionally visits with his family on the farm in his free time, but often can be found taking up jobs of his own still too.

== Abilities ==
Its Earth aether primarily manifests in the creation of coral-like structures, and its Light aether is used to quickly dispatch these structures. He prefers using his aether noncombatively, but does use it as necessary as a Tank-type fighter, typically using the structures to entrap his target. Light is rarely used due to its danger, but is capable of “draining” the energy from a target.

After a combined attack with Hyalt, Jaina was knocked unconscious, and being led by Iris Opalina, Mauriell and Pendra attempt to bring her to safety, before Astrophel tears through them in a blinded rage, cutting through Mauriell's efforts and severely wounding them. All while this is happening, the stage has caught fire due to Selena and Ruairi's Fire Aether, and Meridian briefly caught the attention of the playwright with her attempt at an audition, but got too frightened to finish it, causing the playwright to scatter its papers all over the stage. One paper floats its way to Mauriell, designating a role for the "hero", and despite his hesitation, confusion, and injuries, he pushes himself onto the flaming stage, resisting Jun'ichi Nogami's attempts to restrain him down. Handed the Mask of Comedy by Hyalt and the Mask of Tragedy by Nivian, who freezes the stage's broken floorboards for them, Mauriell puts on the masks, being healed up by Eleanor Valentine. She performs on the ice, dancing and singing a song from her childhood, one sung in her childhood choir about the change of seasons. This someone stayed at their home, with Benny returning to Eversun City alone to raise his new child, with Benny deciding to transfer over to the Education Division a few years later to teach and inspire young adventurers with his endless spirit, knowledge, and experience.

Between his studies of Aether and family business, he often wandered through the oceans to cool him off whenever overwhelmed, leading to one occasion as a teenager coming across the island of Lazlø. She was immediately intrigued by her new sensations in the water and swam onto the land to investigate, finding the entirety of the place and experience as a unique kind of beautiful that she had never experienced before. They explored for several hours until a throbbing headache began to build, and they turned to return home, only able to make it back to their family barely conscious by singing a simple melody. Taken into care immediately, it was found that he had been Corrupted by the island's Whimsy and was forever changed by its effects.

Mauriell stands at a moderately short 147.3 cm and has a rather thin and average build. As a Sea Angel Submatar, they have pale blue skin with coral-colored hair, orange eyes and matching markings, most notably on their cheeks, chest, ends of fingers and toes, and at the ends of rounded horns on their head and small wings on their back. After being corrupted by Whimsy, some of these have begun to shift hue to be slightly pinkish, which is the most visible in his eyes and heart, as well as new circular markings appearing on his arms and legs, typically covered by long gloves and socks.

Her usual attire has her hair styled short and includes a tan shirt with chest and shoulder openings with its sleeves tied, loose blue shorts, matching white thigh-high socks and fingerless elbow-length gloves, as well as a long orange tailcoat and boots.

Mauriell is a gentle and calmly composed individual with an intense and haphazard curiosity for all things arcane in nature, often willing to push themself into mortal peril for the sake of aetheric scientific discovery. He always has a soft, yet blank smiling expression on his face and never changes his lighthearted demeanor, talking in nonsensical metaphors, unfazed by even the most serious of moments. This extends to her opinion on Whimsy and even her own corruption as well, being rather open about its various physical and mental consequences despite the stigma and pressure it places on her.

== Biography ==
Mauriell was born and raised in one of the cities in The Reef of Umito, into a large family of mostly Sea Angel Submatarius known for their creative, particularly musical, endeavors. While Mauriell was taught how to sing as a child and did occasionally appear alongside their family during festival performances, it did very little to sway them from their passion for Aether, always playing around with the few spells he knew and aspiring to become a spellweaver once they were older. Between his studies of Aether and family business, he often wandered through the oceans to cool him off whenever overwhelmed, leading to one occasion as a teenager coming across the island of Lazlø. She was immediately intrigued by her new sensations in the water and swam onto the land to investigate, finding the entirety of the place and experience as a unique kind of beautiful that she had never experienced before. They explored for several hours until a throbbing headache began to build, and they turned to return home, only able to make it back to their family barely conscious by singing a simple melody. Taken into care immediately, it was found that he had been Corrupted by the island's Whimsy and was forever changed by its effects.

Mauriell though, found only further drive through this experience and continued with her plans to become a spellweaver, moving to Eversun to join its Guild despite everything, ending up in the Staff & Scabbard subdivision of the Arcane Sciences Division. In the 90 or so years since then, their corruption has been quite slow physically, much to their disappointment.

Mauriell was born and raised in one of the cities in The Reef of Umito, into a large family of mostly Sea Angel Submatarius known for their creative, particularly musical, endeavors. While Mauriell was taught how to sing as a child and did occasionally appear alongside their family during festival performances, it did very little to sway them from their passion for Aether, always playing around with the few spells he knew and aspiring to become a spellweaver once they were older. Between his studies of Aether and family business, he often wandered through the oceans to cool him off whenever overwhelmed, leading to one occasion as a teenager coming across the island of Lazlø. She was immediately intrigued by her new sensations in the water and swam onto the land to investigate, finding the entirety of the place and experience as a unique kind of beautiful that she had never experienced before. They explored for several hours until a throbbing headache began to build, and they turned to return home, only able to make it back to their family barely conscious by singing a simple melody. Taken into care immediately, it was found that he had been Corrupted by the island's Whimsy and was forever changed by its effects.

Mauriell though, found only further drive through this experience and continued with her plans to become a spellweaver, moving to Eversun to join its Guild despite everything, ending up in the Staff & Scabbard subdivision of the Arcane Sciences Division. == Personality ==
Benny, affectionately nicknamed "Big Ben", is an intrepid and heartwarmingly jolly individual driven by his passion and drive for all types of adventure, acting as a courageous figure and teacher to inspire others to pursue their own without a wrinkle of fear. His disposition can only be described as sunny; constantly smiling, laughing, and generally being easygoing with all of those around him, with a little bit of a gritty competitive spark to boot. However, in his deeply prideful nature, he tends to get rigidly stuck in his ways and methods, rather staunch and unchanging even when simply learning something new may benefit him.

== Biography ==
In Benny's youth, he was quite the cheerful Wayfarer within the Guild, having joined it rather quickly once he was 18, and jumping to take any job that he could find, always traveling wherever and whenever he could. In the year 1206, he managed to meet someone on one of his quests, resulting in the birth of his daughter, Aisling, the following year. This someone stayed at their home, with Benny returning to Eversun City alone to raise his new child, with Benny deciding to transfer over to the Education Division a few years later to teach and inspire young adventurers with his endless spirit, knowledge, and experience.

Benny celebrated Gourdfest as he does every year, wearing a rather aged costume his daughter made for him out of clay when she was younger and refraining from any spiritual events due to his distain for them. However, he did repeatedly visit Eleanor Valentine's Ceramic Respite throughout the holiday, learning how to create pots to put up in his classroom to try and expand his creative abilities.

'''Sundance 1230'''

Benny celebrated Sundance very calmly and simply, which he tends to do every year. The evening before the day of Sundance, he placed out Wish Tags to his class from that year, each one of his colleagues, and to his daughter, choosing to spend the evening with her to share dinner together.

== Trivia ==
* He was born without his lower left arm, and when meeting new people, often jokes about having lost it during one of his wayfaring jobs.
* He's rather adverse to Aether, outright refusing to use it whenever he can avoid to.
* He is very knowledgeable about all types of weapons, as well as how to use them, even if he defaults to his Guild-licensed warhammer.
* His classes focus on general questing knowledge, including types of quests, how they are process through the Wayfarer Division, and generally anything related to adventure, with his classes best suited for students seeking to be Wayfarers.
* Outside of teaching, he blacksmiths and works with metal, having an interest in craftsmanship.
* While he's not one to talk about his past before his Wayfaring days, he was raised to have a rather intense work ethic, getting by with the barest of minimums. In spite of this, he wanted and wants to make sure Aisling has it better than he did.
* He's really good at preparing cold or frozen food, most notably ice cream.
